Day Two

A day of experimenting with luxury plus photo dump

Luxury one: slept in! I thought about getting up at 5ish to try and get on the road at 6 but figured with only ten miles to hike it was worth the extra snooze. 7:15 up and 8 on the trail did just fine.

Luxury two: the water spigots and toilets at lake morena, five miles in.

Luxury three: the bacon cheeseburger and 24oz chocolate malt at the malt shop in the town of morena.

Luxury four: the homemade jerky a fellow hiker shared

Luxury five: using my sleeping pad as a sitting pad during hiking breaks

Luxury six: having cell service at my campsite to text folks back, download more music, and blog

Luxury seven: hiking with nine plus fewer pounds of water than yesterday

Luxury eight: the Milky Way and tall boy of Sierra Nevada I carried five miles to camp

Luxury nine: putting on a fresh pair of socks

Luxury ten: a dinner of Pasta all’Amatricia my dad made while I was at home last week and we dehydrated

Photo dump!

Signing the trail register at the start!
First pct signpost (these are all over the trail to help when routes cross)
Signpost at CLEEF
First time going under an overpass! Feat new hiker friend “Halfweight”
First stream crossing that needed a little dexterity to avoid getting soaked
A day two sock tan (this is with full pant legs all day, the trail has been v dusty)

Looking forward to a couple longer hiking days coming up and a climb up mt laguna!
