Day thirty one

I’m sick! Makes sense why yesterday was so tough. While I don’t have a thermometer to take my temp with out here, I’m pretty sure I’m running somewhat of a fever. Did 15 miles today and while the terrain was easy I still felt terrible most of the day. Fortunately I’ve got 13 and 15 mile days coming up followed by a zero! Hopefully should let me be all recovered by the time I’m headed out again.

Body-wise, my shin has gotten a lot better. I talked to another hiker who apparently had heard from a lot of folks they had the same injury coming out of big bear and that while it’s right next to the shin bone it’s not a shin splint/stress fracture thing. Whatever it is, it seems to have gotten much better in my case. My knees have started to protest a bit but nothing lasting. After Agua Dulce, the coming 100 miles look like they don’t often have too steep of a grade so hopefully my leg issues don’t extend any further than sore feet!

5am sunrise from camp
There wasn’t a mile marker at 400 but there sure was for 420!
A defunct water system from who knows what near where I tented tonight.
No other poles nearby, fallen or standing. Just this lonely one at my campsite.
