Day thirty nine

Aight today was a tough one. Got to sleep around 1 after setting up camp and all, but I hadn’t considered the issue of camping at a literal wind farm. My tent was billowing around me all night and when I woke up with the sun at 6am there was no going back.

Then I had to hike through the wind farm. Which would have been fine if not for the wind. It was largely blowing against me, in what felt like gusts of up to 30-40 mph. I made it to the next water source around 11:30 and tried to nap until around 3, largely unsuccessfully. I found a great tree for shade, but was so sore from yesterday that I couldn’t settle in.

The next 7.5 miles remained hard. I gained 3000 vertical feet, and somehow boomeranged between zero wind and sun beating down on me or gusts as bad if not worse than hiking the wind farm. And going up 400 feet per mile is hard enough without getting blown every which way.

I only got about 14 miles, so just under 10 to go tomorrow until I can get to Tehachapi and my resupply box. Camped on a bit of a windy ridge, hoping to get better sleep tonight.

View of some of the wind farm from my initial ascent. The top area where I ended up had a great expansive view but not one that lent itself well to a picture sadly.
View from my supper table at a campsite by a dirt road.
Trail angels set up a nice little spot here!!
