Day six

My first zero day on the trail! Planned this one in advance, wanted to get a full days rest after the 77 miles to Julian. Maddy had picked me up the night before so I spent the day in San Diego knocking out chores – some I came up with after a my first few trail days, others I just didn’t get to before I started out.

I think it was really helpful to give my legs this break after throwing them into 77 miles in 5 days, hoping to make decent daily mileage on my way to my next resupply in idyllwild.

I would also be remiss if I didn’t mention a huuuuuge highlight ending of day five – pie in Julian. Mom’s pies (I think that’s the name) offers pct hikers not just a free slice but also ice cream and a beverage. I had full body tingles from apple pie with a generous scoop of real vanilla ice cream and a glass of milk. Great great start to my day off.
