Day fourteen

That was a long time to hike with just one baby break. I got started at 11:30 after my final shopping was all wrapped up, and hiked through straight till 7. 13.5 total miles, 11 on the pct. The trail stayed pretty high altitude and grueling incline so I feel pretty darn good about getting this far today.

Tomorrow I’m going to lose 6000 feet of elevation over 15 miles to my next campsite – water is gonna be few and far between. It’s a little concrete water fountain that’s crucial as it’ll be another 15 miles to the next water after that.

Then I’ve got mission creek to look forward to. A bunch of hikers got norovirus from it about a month and a half ago and the trail is totally washed out for several miles which will necessitate some orienteering. I’m looking forward to the challenge I think it’ll be a fun time.

Oh I also tried out sock liners with individual toe holes for the first time today! Liked the extra coushining and didn’t feel the blisters really at all. Hoping that stays the case as my socks get dirtier and dirtier!

A big ol’ tree lording over the pass. One of its many regular-tree-thickness branches is propped up squarely in the trail on the other side of those rocks to the right.
First legit waterfall-esque stream! No way to avoid this guy without getting your feet wet
