Day five

Early start where I had to backtrack a mile for extra water. After a dry camp I wasn’t sure if I could make it eight and a half miles to the next water source – my calf started acting up the last 5ish miles of day four. Fortunately after a brutally steep downhill to start the day, I cruised along at a solid pace to make the full 17 and change miles to Julian.

Had a really great time getting to know some fellow hikers over the last few days. We’re not all exactly on the same pace but have been pretty similar so it’s fun to see folks multiple days in a row.

Fellow hikers sharing a break under the only shady spot for 15 miles!

Had some nice views descending out of the mountains into the flat desert which made the hiking go by a lot faster!
