Day forty five

21.5 miles today but man I had to work for it. Did about 5500 feet of elevation gain and 4000 of elevation loss on the day. I hadn’t checked that stat before but the grades today were noticeably steeper than the typical pct grade, consistently 500 feet per mile rather than 300. It made for slower going, even with stronger legs. Consecutive long days takes a bit of a toll as well, I’ve really ramped up my mileage and today my legs felt that accumulation.

Got to camp late too, so it was a race to get food going and everything set up. First bad mosquito spot too which I’ve got some trepidation about. Going to be picking up my mosquito head net at this upcoming resupply for sure.

A little memorial for the first white guy to discover the pass
