Two days out

I’m two days away from heading out on the PCT, and it doesn’t feel real. Sure I moved out of my place in DC, the city where I lived for the last six years. Sure I went to REI a half dozen times and made a whole gear spreadsheet despite my aversion to planning. And sure I’ve told just about everyone I know (and many strangers) that I’m giving this a shot. But I just can’t seem to wrap my mind around the scale of the challenge. Three states, 2650 miles, and 153 days to do it. If you’d like to join me as I try to make sense of all that, you’ve come to the right place!

My hope is that this blog will do three things for me: be my main method of keeping friends and family updated, help keep me committed to reflecting through my trip, and preserve my memories of one of the great adventures of my life. I’m sure my drafting frequency will wax and wane, but my goal is to keep up at least one post per resupply stop. Since that’ll be every 3-7 days, I’d recommend subscribing to get emails when I make a new post rather than refreshing the site each day.

Happy trails!
