Day twenty one

25 total miles today for my first day hike. I hurt.

The problem was less the total mileage, more that I started out too fast. If I push my pace to three miles an hour, which feels pretty maintainable on flat terrain, that’s where I get in trouble. I can do it for a few hours but then my body starts to protest. Today it’s my left knee and my right shin. I slowed down to a more manageable 2.5ish mph and tried to walk in a way that wouldn’t hurt – transferred some pain to the parts of my legs that overcompensated but I think it worked out okay. 23.5 pct miles feels pretty good to have in the bank following a zero day.

I did get some nice views of the lake and crossed my first bridge (I think? First memorable bridge to be sure).

Didn’t know the area was closed until I headed out of it 💁‍♂️
This burrito is as big as my calf. I ate half of it and was proud.
